Genetic Differentiation and Molecular Phylogenetics of North African Catfish from Three Distinct Waterbodies

چکیده

Abstract The population structure and genetic variability of North African catfish Clarias gariepinus (Burchell 1822) were investigated using partial mitochondrial DNA cytochrome b region sequences. Fifty-four (54) samples from three geographically isolated rivers in Nigeria. analysis 53 haplotypes revealed greater haplotype diversity (0.99930) nucleotide (p) (0.07270). According to an molecular variance (AMOVA), the within populations is significantly higher than across populations. FST scores (0.75000, 0.94792 0.95699) indicated that Nigerian freshwater bodies had a strong structure. phylogenetic reconstruction unique placement (Ogbese) linked by others all groups with point mutation ranging 1 24 nucleotides. Asejire Ureje are genetically diverse, as evidenced high level 1.0000, low spanning 0.05101 0.07889, values (within-population variation). common between some mixes different same cluster demonstrate not distinct.

Molecular phylogenetics and historical biogeography of east African chimpanzees

Two hundred and sixty eight DNA sequences (hypervariable region 1 of the mitochondrial control region) were obtained from chimpanzees (Pun hugh4tes) in 19 natural populations within the range of the easternmost subspecies, II t. schwein&rthi. Methods of phylogenetic reconstruction were applied at both the haplotype and population levels. Chimpanzee haplotypes do not sort into location-specific ...

Phylogenetics and phylogeography of the oak treehopper Platycotis vittata indicate three distinct North American lineages and a neotropical origin.

Ecological differences including habitat, pollinators, and temporal separation between species and populations are important isolation barriers that can impede gene flows among evolving lineages, and subsequently lead to population divergence or speciation (Coyne and Orr, 2004). Temporal or allochronic speciation occurs when members of co-existing species or populations differ in breeding perio...

Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution

The freshwater mussel family Hyriidae (Mollusca: Bivalvia: Unionida) has a disjunct trans-Pacific distribution in Australasia and South America. Previous phylogenetic analyses have estimated the evolutionary relationships of the family and the major infra-familial taxa (Velesunioninae and Hyriinae: Hyridellini in Australia; Hyriinae: Hyriini, Castaliini, and Rhipidodontini in South America), bu...

Molecular Evolution and Phylogenetics

We can place more than just organisms into trees: individual genes from the genomes of various organisms can also be placed into trees, and from these gene phylogenies, we can often infer the species phylogenies. Often, this is done with the geological record in mind: not all branches of the tree of life terminate in the present – there are many that end in the various mass extinctions that hav...
